2015 ‘Iolani Palace Christmas Ornament

The Friends of ‘Iolani Palace are pleased to announce the 2015 Palace Ornament which celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the the founding of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I.
Among the five royal orders awarded by the Kingdom of Hawaii, the Royal Order of Kamehameha I was the most prominent and most widely awarded to both Native Hawaiians and foreigners. The 2015 ornament is based on the Knight’s Grand Cross Star of this Order, which was awarded to Emperor Alexander III of Russia, Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, Emperor Meiji of Japan, and Emperor Wilhelm I of Prussia (Germany), among others. Over 200 Orders were awarded in total and was the first of its kind for the Kingdom of Hawaii until 1875.
